Personal Best Karate Program
For many years, Personal Best Karate of Norton has sponsored an after-school Karate program for the students of the LG . Open to students in grades K-3, the classes run weekly through the month of October and take place in the school gym. This program is a way to expose your child to the art of Karate and its' many positive messages, like respect and confidence. Personal Best Karate, kindly donates their time and resources and all proceeds directly benefit the LG PTA. Last year we had the most kids signed up in year. There are 34 students participating! Thank you and have fun. Best wishes on breaking your board at the Graduation ceremony at the end of the program. Norton Halloween Parade
More information to come Fall & Spring Scholastic Book Fairs
The Scholastic Book Fairs take place twice a year, in the LG Nourse Library, during school hours. These fundraisers get quality books into the hands of LG students at a very reasonable price. Proceeds are used to purchase much needed books and materials for your children's classrooms. The Book Fair is a wonderful way to nurture your child's love of reading and support the LG Nourse PTA. The Fall Book fair matches up with Parent/Teacher conference which is a good time to do some book shopping! Volunteers are always needed to help at both the Fall & Spring Book Fairs. Please contact [email protected] to help at either event. On the Barre Dance Program
Students will get a chance to experience Hip Hop dance with their friends at this after-school program. Held in the LG gym, the program will run for 4 weeks, with the first 2 weeks for the kindergarteners and 1st graders. The third and fourth weeks of November are for the 2nd and 3rd graders. On the Barre is kindly donating their time. Our thanks to them! Check out the On The Barre website to find out more about what they offer at the studio. It's not too late to sign up for a dance class with them! Breakfast with Santa
This event is a holiday tradition at LG Nourse. Taking place every December, it is an opportunity for families to enjoy a pancake breakfast together with a visit from, none other than, Santa himself! Tickets are sold in advance for this fun family event via flyer in your student(s) folder. We give first opportunity to our families for tickets and then invite the JCS families if we aren't sold out. It's a great opportunity to take your holiday card photo with Santa. Plus we have added a Vendor Fair so that while you are waiting for Santa you can do some shopping as well! Volunteers are needed the day of the event. The sign up will be available mid November. Mixed Bags -- SPRING FUNDRAISER
We sell tote bags, kitchenware, gift wrap, home goods, accessories and more through Mixedbag designs each Fall. This is a new fundraiser as of last year and it was very popular! The products are awesome and eco friendly! The LG receives 50% of the proceeds from catalog orders and 40% from online purchases. That's an awesome return on a fundraiser! This fundraiser is closed for the 2015-2016 school year. Winter Carnival
The annual winter tradition is a fun Saturday activity to get out of the house before the weather turns to spring. There is something for everyone with carnival games, lots of food, crafts to make, a theme bag raffle for the kids and a silent auction for the adults plus a 50/50 raffle! It's open to the public and we welcome all our Norton neighbors to come have fun! Volunteers are always needed for this so look for the sign up in mid February. We are also looking for Silent Auction items so if you, or your company have anything that you would like to donate, please contact us at [email protected] Teacher Appreciation Week
We all love our teachers so let's show them how much with this week long celebration of all they do for the LG. Each day will have a special activity from bringing in a flower to wearing their favorite colors. We also do a pot luck luncheon which they LOVE on Thursday of that week. Find your favorite family recipe to share! We will keep you in formed of all the details as we get closer but the week is May 2-6. |
LGN Walkathon
The LGN new event that will join physical activity with fund raising is coming in early October. It will be the LGN Ghost Walk and the information flyers/pledge forms came home last week. Grades K-3 will be walking on Wednesday, October 12 and Project Early, Special Ed and the Community Peers will be walking on Friday, Oct. 14. The bracelets that the kids will be given will NOT be latex as stated in the flyer but will be safe for all. It will be manageable for all grades and lots of fun! We will need some volunteers to help us keep track of the laps and cheer the kids on...be on the look out for that flyer this week. In terms of pledges, if you have sponsors that live away, you can certainly have them mail you checks and submit the multiple checks with your form. Please have all checks made out to LGN PTA. The Otis Spunkmeyer Cookies and Soul Warming Soups Fall Fundraiser, is an annual family favorite. This fundraiser is held every year just in time for Thanksgiving and holiday events. All products are beyond delicious!! The LG PTA earns 40% profit on all sales and it is our most profitable fundraiser. Stock your freezers with dinners and desserts for the winter. Don't forget about all those holiday cookie swaps...these are delicious and super easy! The Holiday Shoppe
The Holiday Shoppe is an annual in-school event, held during the first week of December. Students are given time to shop for small, inexpensive, holiday gifts for their family members. Their purchases are then wrapped and tagged by PTA volunteers. The children very much enjoy shopping on their own, and finding special surprises for their loved ones! We always need volunteers for this event. You can help the kids shop or you can be a elf and wrap their gifts. Look for the sign up in the middle of November! Ice Cream Social
I scream...You scream...we all scream for Ice Cream!!! Our Ice Cream Social is truly the cherry on top of a great school year! This annual event takes place in June and it's a real team effort, with parents and teachers scooping the ice cream. Kids and adults always have a great time relaxing, chatting and welcoming the end of the school year over a delicious bowl of Bliss Ice Cream. We are very aware of allergies and try to have something for everyone. If you aren't sure, please ask as we have all the labels! Volunteers are needed to sell the tickets as well as to scoop ice cream! Please contact [email protected] to help! Dining to Donate for the LG
Each year we partner with several establishments to host fundraising nights. You order our or dine in, show a coupon or tell them you are with the LG and a portion (usually 15-20%) of your sale comes back to the LG. We all eat out with the crazy schedules we now keep with the kids (and help us if there is more than 1 kid in activities!) so why not get something to eat and have it help the LG. This year we are partnering with Berry Frozen Yogurt, Chateau, Chuck E Cheese (Jan. 27). Be on the look out for the flyer home in the kids folder! Movie Night
Save the Date -- Friday, February 10th! This is a fun night to watch a movie at school! The kids love seeing their friends after house in the school and everyone has a good time. Bring your blanket and snacks. We will supply the popcorn! Be on the look out for the flyer in late January/early February! LG Nights at Providence Bruins/Red Sox/Paw Sox
Each year we partner with the local sports teams to have a family night. Flyers come home to order your tickets which we get at a group rate. Each is a fun activity to do with your family. The Providence Bruins also host the 2nd and 3rd graders singing before the game. They get to go out on the ice and perform with Mr. Arieta along with the JCS students. They do a great job each year! This game is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 17th. The Red Sox and Paw Sox nights haven't been finalized yet but are in the spring! LG Community Service Project
Did you know we had a garden in between the building's wings on the playground side? Neither did we! But it needs some TLC. We have a donation of mulch from Old Station and now we just need to weed and make it pretty again. We will get expert picking guidance from someone who knows the difference between a weed and a flower. Come help return the garden to it's beautiful state so the students can enjoy it all spring! Saturday, April 29th from 9am to 12noon. |
